manybody
manybody is a curatorial collective from Romania that focuses on exploring collaborative art, alternative economies, socio-political and ecological futures. We are inspired by both experimental and everyday practices of togetherness, based on our experiences and the question of how we can continue forms of collaboration beyond the logic of projects.
manybody want to open a dialogue about collective artistic and curatorial practices today, and facilitate an exchange with other curators, researchers and artists. The manybody minds are Cristina Bută, Monica Dănilă, Edith Lázár, Cristina Stoenescu.
The collective formed in 2024 out of an ongoing collaboration between its members, who had previously worked together as part of the wider curatorial team of the 2023 Art Encounters Biennial in Timișoara – My Rhino Is Not a Myth: art science fictions. Since then, manybody has developed a range of online and offline formats, including hangouts, talks, texts, an online platform, cooking sessions, and a shared library, both as forms of exchange within the collective and in response to local or international initiatives.
Curatorial residencies in the region
Since 2025, the biennial has organised curatorial residencies in the region to foster encounters and knowledge exchange between international curators and the local art scene in Västra Götaland, including both artists and art organisations. The residencies are intended for curators with experience in site-specific research and biennial projects.
The residencies are organised in collaboration with art organisations in the region. In 2026, our partners are STATIONEN in Svenshögen, Galleri BOX in Gothenburg, and Konstmuseet in Skövde. By inviting curators to spend time at these organisations, we aim to create opportunities for new encounters, exchanges and collaborations with artists and art organisations across the Västra Götaland region.
