Asta Vaičiulytė
Asta Vaičiulytė is a curator and editor of art publications. In autumn 2026, she joined April, an international writing residency founded in Trakai, Lithuania, as artistic co-director. Her curatorial practice often focuses on various aspects of non-verbal experience, poetic gestures and sustained dialogue within the creative process. From 2008 to 2025, she worked at the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) in Vilnius, where she curated exhibitions and other projects by Lithuanian and international artists, and edited the institution’s publications. In 2017, Vaičiulytė was co-curator of the Lithuanian Pavilion at the 57th Venice Biennale. In her work on art publications and texts, she often draws on conversation as a way of reflecting on artistic processes and their contexts. In 2022, she edited Conversations about Lithuanian Contemporary Art, published by the CAC – a collection of 30 conversations with artists, curators, art critics and other cultural practitioners spanning three decades of Lithuanian contemporary art.
Curatorial residencies in the region
Since 2025, the biennial has organised curatorial residencies in the region to foster encounters and knowledge exchange between international curators and the local art scene in Västra Götaland, including both artists and art organisations. The residencies are intended for curators with experience in site-specific research and biennial projects.
The residencies are organised in collaboration with art organisations in the region. In 2026, our partners are STATIONEN in Svenshögen, Galleri BOX in Gothenburg, and Konstmuseet in Skövde. By inviting curators to spend time at these organisations, we aim to create opportunities for new encounters, exchanges and collaborations with artists and art organisations across the Västra Götaland region.
