The public programme

During the biennial period, art organisations across the Västra Götaland Region create programme events that respond to the themes developed by the curator of that year’s biennial. These can take the form of workshops, performances, collective readings, and everything in between, depending on the capacity and interests of the participating organisations themselves.

By collaborating on programme planning, the organisations have organised themselves into clusters to avoid scheduling conflicts and make it easier for audiences to travel between different locations across the region. Some clusters have been established for a long time, while others emerge as more organisations from new locations across the region join the network.

How can I participate in the public programme?

To be included in the GIBCA Extended public programme, events must:

  • Take place during the GIBCA period, whether for one evening, one day or several days.
  • Take place in Västra Götaland.
  • Engage with the themes of GIBCA.

The GIBCA Extended programme encompasses all forms of contemporary art and may include discussions, lectures, workshops, performances, theatre and dance, poetry readings, concerts, exhibitions and more.

Each participating organiser is responsible for organising and funding their own events. Röda Sten Konsthall coordinates the network’s joint promotion, but each participant is also responsible for promoting their own programme.
