Julia Bondesson

Julia Bondesson works with sculpture and performance. Her sculptures are carved from wood using traditional tools and techniques. Sometimes they take the form of marionette-like bodies that figure in her choreographies as willing recipients, brought into motion and a will of their own by the artist’s touch and attention.

Julia Bondesson:

Bondesson (b.1983) graduated from the Royal The Academy of Arts in Stockholm in 2011. She has studied hand puppet theater in Taiwan and wood carving in Japan and Thailand. This year, Julia Bondesson was awarded the Paul Hedqvist Award by the Academy of Fine Arts. Major solo exhibitions include Vandalorum in Värnamo, Krognoshuset in Lund, Färgfabriken in Stockholm and Moderna Museet in Malmö.
