Amid B and C and a knot and E (A conver-something)

In the framework of Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art artist Simnikiwe Buhlungu invites to four public sessions developed together with Göteborgs Konsthall in Gamlestaden and at Gothenburg City Library.

Functioning as exercises between the realms of reading and listening, Amid B and C and a knot and E (a conver-something) ask for public participation in sounding, dissonating and harmonising textual and sonic material together as an attempt of storing knowledges; in situ and in transience.

The title, Amid B and C and a knot and E (a conver-something), serves as a departure point from the notes A,B,C and E on the chromatic musical scale; in that, what sounds/utterances/timescales/half-steps/choppings and screwings could be encountered within the crevices of sounds/keys if time was spent in this? What is – and has already been –   happening “in between”?

This session will explore how reading can be activated by utilising physical space (both that of the Slakthuset but also within the Khuaya stands themselves) as an elocution zone. Departing off of reverberation chambers and how they have been used in sound and audio production to emulate spaces that might not be feasible or accessible, this session will invite participants to expand and imagine spaces using the hollow of the Khuaya stands as reverberation chambers.
