Amid B and C and a knot and E (A conver-something)

In the framework of Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art artist Simnikiwe Buhlungu invites to four public sessions developed together with Göteborgs Konsthall in Gamlestaden and at Gothenburg City Library.

Functioning as exercises between the realms of reading and listening, Amid B and C and a knot and E (a conver-something) ask for public participation in sounding, dissonating and harmonising textual and sonic material together as an attempt of storing knowledges; in situ and in transience.

The title, Amid B and C and a knot and E (a conver-something), serves as a departure point from the notes A,B,C and E on the chromatic musical scale; in that, what sounds/utterances/timescales/half-steps/choppings and screwings could be encountered within the crevices of sounds/keys if time was spent in this? What is – and has already been –   happening “in between”?

The first session will take place at the Stadsbiblioteket Göteborg, backdropped by an ongoing chess tournament. The time and strategy that informs chess as a game/sport will function as a spatial guest in this conver-somenthing where Buhlungu and audience will be cajoled into reading a text and listening to sounds that reference phenomena such as: whether time can make its own decisions, the game of Morabaraba, and syncopation.
