Open Stage

What does it mean to see and be seen? I saw you when you watched me die*.

We are living in a time when we all see, we all bear witness. What collective responsibility do we bear for our witnessing in this time?

The title of the 13th edition of Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art is a hand that is all of our hands combined. Is it possible to join our hands together as one? Gibca’s art exhibition explores solidarity, observation and interconnected struggles throughout different periods of time. This is done through activism, collective care and testimonies.

Join us on 7 November for Open Stage – an evening of voices and words woven around the themes: testimony, care and solidarity.

*Installation I saw you when you watched me die by Helena Uambembe at Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art.

The evening is coordinated by Tara Talebsafa and Siri Berzelius. The programme is part of Röda Sten Konsthalls programme serie Konstfredag.
