Interview with the GIBCA team and curator Elvira Dyangani Ose

Earlier this fall the curator Elvira Dyngani Ose did a research trip that took her to several locations in Sweden. In conversation with GIBCA she talks about her impressions of Sweden, its art scene and the questions that she thinks will be central to GIBCA 2015.

See the launch of GIBCA 2015

On September 24th the launch of GIBCA 2015 was held at Röda Sten Konsthall. During the evening GIBCAs artistic directors talked with curator Elvira Dyangani Ose  about her curatorial background and what topics hopes to explore within the context of GIBCA 2015.

After a couple of days in Gothenburg, filled with meetings with collaborative partners, visits to artists’ studios and the various venues of the biennial, Dyangani Ose and the GIBCA team headed off to Stockholm.

Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (GIBCA) and Röda Sten Konsthall are delighted to announce the appointment of Elvira Dyangani Ose as curator of the eighth edition of GIBCA.

Cancelled viewing of the film art work Magic Bullet by Marcus Öhrn

The film art work Magic Bullet by the artist Marcus Öhrn is a 49-hour long chronological montage of all the film footage that were cut by the Swedish State Film Censorship office between 1934 till 2002. As part of GIBCA, the film would have been shown on a big screen on the facade of GöteborgsOperan (The Opera House in Göteborg).

On Thursday, September 5, three days before the film's premiere, GöteborgsOperan announced that the film would not be shown as planned.
