Appropriation GIBCA

Since 2014, art teacher students at HDK-Valand have worked with appropriation as a theme and tool in a course on specialization level. In the context of art, appropation roughly means to steal, copy, borrow, quote, sample, mix and remix. Over the years, the students have used larger contemporary exhibitions in Gothenburg as a starting point for their appropriations; and it has been a given choice to work on the basis of GIBCA every two years. In their appropriations and essays, the students have woven and intertwined both artistic and pedagogical aspects in relation to the themes of the biennials and exhibitions.
