How Do Museums Write Histories?
Panel discussion on Gothenburg Museum of Natural History and its history of collecting
Thursday, 14 November 6–7:30 pm
Gothenburg Museum of Natural History
Museums are often seen as instances of authority, but they are always man made. How does a museum come to life? And how does a museum of natural history come together? One of the oldest of its kind, opened Gothenburg Museum of Natural History holds not only an impressive collection, but also a part of Swedish and world history through the stories of its collection. The museum takes the opportunity to reflect on its history of collecting, making visible interesting stories behind the items on display or study and the social and political context they belonged to.
